CIBSE judges will be looking for projects which demonstrate excellent: * Knowledge in an area of building serviecs engineering * Design * Originality * Visuals The award is open to final year building services engineering BSc, BEng and MEng students and due to demand in 2010 the award is also open to final year MSc students in the UK and internationally. Deadline: 31st July 2010 Download the 2010 Application Form CIBSE ASHRAE Group Graduate of the Year 2010 This is for anyone graduating in 2009 or 2010 from a course associated with the activities of the CIBSE ASHRAE Group and celebrates the best of the graduates. Graduates may be proposed by their college or employer. The competition is supported by ASHRAE, CIBSE, IMechE, Rumford Club, CIBSE Young Engineers Network, and CIBSE Patrons.
First prize: A trip to 2011 ASHRAE Conference in Las Vegas Emma Marshall from RPS Newcastle who won the 2009 Award not only went on the excellent trip to Las Vegas, she also recieved recognition throughout the industry with articles in the CIBSE Journal and publicity on the CIBSE website. This year's Society of Public Health Engineers 'Young Engineers Award', gives teams the chance to win a trip to New York and Niagra Falls. This year's theme is 'Innovation in Public Health Engineering'. Teams of up to three, aged 18 to 30, should submit an A3 paper domonstrating their proposed innocation. The deadline is 23 July. Arup, Imtech Aqua Ltd, and IMA Cooling Systems have been announced as the winners of the Young Engineers Champions Awards 2010. Now in their second year, the awards, sponsored by Baxi Commercial Division, recognise innovation in developing engineers of the future, and seek to reward those organisations which proactively champion young people in industry. Each of the winning companies showed particular commitment to championing young people in the building services engineering industry, and in supporting them in employment and in education. Arup won the award in the large company category, and was recognised for their commitment to supporting and maintaining young engineers despite difficult economic conditions. Imtech Aqua Ltd won the medium company category , with a strong all round submission, in particularly that 30% of engineering staff were developed through their own company, as well as being active in the community and local schools. IMA Cooling systems took the small company trophy, with their sophisticated and tailored training programme and their all round submission which was seen to be particularly impressive for a company of their size. IMA Cooling Systems also won the overall category of 'Champion of Champions'. The winners, which were announced on 8 July 2010 at an event in City Hall, each received a trophy and £1,000 of CIBSE training vouchers. 2010 Ken Dale Travel Bursary Winner Announced Thank you to all of our members who submitted entries for the 2010 Ken Dale Travel Award. CIBSE would like to congratulate Rebecca Warren from SKM, Manchester has been announced as the winner of the Ken Dale Travel Bursary 2010. Rebecca plans to use the bursary to research 'Energy Solutions in Low Carbon communities' and will report her findings to the CIBSE Council in October 2010. We wish Rebecca the best of luck on her travels!
